"Funny Killing Spree Game"
The recent campus shootings in Montreal brought to my attention of a freeware game called Super Columbine Massacre RPG. I don't fully understand it. The creator who actively posts in his forums, and clearly an intelligent individual, seems to justify his game as an encouraging factor for people "to think creatively on how to express their thoughts on unthinkable tragedies." He says earlier in the same post that the game is "really layered in such ways that people will take from it what they're inclined to."
I highly doubt that the general population is at the level of maturity to truly take this game in an objective and explorative manner. And this fellow proves my point by saying:

I like stupid bloody actions in RPG Maker games!^^
get going and make another funny killing spree game!
Columbine has essentially been reduced to a funny killing spree game.
And now we have the incident in Montreal, where the shooter was fond of playing this game. I don't believe that violent games lead to violent behaviour, yet my gut and instincts strongly reject the nature of this game.

When i put myself in the situation of an "innocent" person at the site of an attack(call it what it is), i always find myself being the action hero in my imagination. Disarming the bad guys, using thier guns against them, and hunting down the other bad guys(if theres more than one) to save the lives of the other people and gratify my need to see dead bodies fly.
Okay, so ive played a few violent games in my life too. It doesnt justify the act, but then again, i have self-control(i hope! =)) and i know there are people in this world who are lied to by themselves and others (read: "the enemy") and commit such horrible acts. What im saying is, should our whole society be exposed to something like alchohol when the few people without the self-control will abuse it and end up hurting someone? Does the cost justify the benefit?
Also, if youd like to hear about my conspiracy theory about violent video games, its that the government is breeding a generation of emotionally numb killers, who will be able to go to war and weed out all of those who are unwelcome in this world, and in this society. the programming is there; now who has the .exe file? Neothan out.
